Transformer

‘I always thought that making the transition was a journey, a path, following a trajectory. As if a fiery Sagittarius had shot an arrow that I could hold on to and be taken to the other side, to the ‘other’ gender, opposite to the one assigned to me at birth. I imagined that after taking my first dose of testosterone I would transform into The Rock as quickly as Power Rangers do (dance included). I imagined it would be a violent and striking transformation. What I never imagined, however, is that a ‘gender transition’ is exactly the opposite. It is the stillness that allowed me to descend into myself, it is the stopping of running away from who I am, chasing other identities.
