In the years of the pandemic, the school was overwhelmed by a tsunami that transformed it from a place of welcome and inclusion to a place of suffering and discrimination, with incalculable damage to children and young people. A remedial intervention becomes urgent, but it obviously cannot be the public school that can remedy it. Patrizia Scanu’s book presents, on the basis of an analysis of the exceptional needs of the students who were victims of the disaster, a proposal for an educational intervention in two phases, the first restorative and the second transformative, to be carried out in the context of homeschooling for lower and upper secondary school students. Beyond school and homeschooling is aimed at teachers and parents who intend to educate and not just instruct, for a more just and aware future world. It is inspired by the humanistic model of integral education (which involves body, mind, soul and spirit), transversal, deep, rich, joyful and in nature, guided by creativity, beauty, love of knowledge and the purpose of forming free souls capable of feeling and thinking.
