It is the end of April 1970 and Commissioner Bordelli, now retired, is able to devote himself to a recently reopened case, an investigation that has never been solved and that has haunted him for many years. It concerns the murder of the son of a well-known fascist in 1947, which in the restless post-war climate had been hastily shelved. While, with the help of the deputy commissioner, Bordelli digs into the past in search of the truth, on the Pistoia mountains, the Public Security Service is scouring the woods in a frantic fight against time and an ugly affair comes to light. As if that were not enough, an old friend who had disappeared into thin air more than ten years before suddenly reappears, bringing back memories of a complex and painful affair.
