Non è il caso. La vita secondo Edipo
by Fano, Nicola
Edipo is for everyone the tragic hero unaware of his own identity, who unknowingly kills his father and marries his mother, and is overwhelmed by the discovery of the truth. But his story, a continuous conflict between will and destiny that involves the themes of guilt, responsibility, and justice, is much richer and more complex than this: it is the story of a series of “calculated coincidences,” so calculated that in the end, one might be tempted to say that it cannot simply be fate determining this man’s life. Which is, in the end – as Greek tragedy has been teaching us for 2,500 years – the story of each one of us.
