Miti, meme, iperstizioni

by Guariento, Tommaso
Miti, meme, iperstizioni

Truth has become a customizable and modular product, and the hypercomplexity of phenomena can trigger defensive reactions and archetypal modes of thinking, based on the use of myths, storytelling, and symbolic imagery. From crowd psychology to conspiracy theories, from Instagram infographics to personal branding strategies, we are confronted daily with a collective imagination increasingly crowded with myths, memes, and hyperstitions—self-fulfilling prophecies. The challenging task this book undertakes is to attempt to decode the nature of hypercomplexity by retracing some of its origins and patiently unraveling the threads of a tapestry so tangled that it seems incomprehensible.
