Mafia. Fare memoria per combatterla

by Balsamo Antonio
Mafia. Fare memoria per combatterla

The history of our country is heavily conditioned by the pervasive presence of criminal organizations that depress the economic and civil development of several southern regions and that over time have broadened their scope by infiltrating the mechanisms of the state. Using the compelling style of a ‘live’ reportage with the protagonists and witnesses of events, Judge Balsamo’s book recounts the origin and evolution of the Mafia, the assertion of its power, its economic co-interests, its expansion to the North, and its network of international relations, composing a coherent and persuasive picture in the light of the most recent judicial findings and a series of unpublished testimonies. It is an account that does not neglect the questions that are still open, such as those about the convergence of interests behind the murder of Piersanti Mattarella and the massacres in which Falcone and Borsellino were killed, and about the identification of the real motivations behind some of the most serious deceptions in Italian judicial history on which public opinion is still waiting for full light to be shed.
