Lo Stralisco
by Piumini Roberto
Sakumat, a Turkish painter, is called by the king of Nactumal to embellish the white wall of a room in which the king\’s son lives confined due to an incurable disease that prevents him from seeing the sunlight. The painter accepts and a great friendship is born immediately with the child. Together they decide, time after time, what to paint based on what the child says he saw on the illustrations of the books or heard from the stories they told him. Sakumat paints the sky, the mountains and the meadows that change according to the seasons and a strange grass, lo stralisco, a kind of firefly-plant with spikes like those of the wheat that shines on clear nights.
A moving story full of human warmth.
