The supermarket deli girl falls in love with the clumsy security guard. And the boy who watches the world from his balcony would like to meet the young pianist who takes music lessons in the apartment next door to his. Strange artists, elderly carpenters who suddenly disappear and reappear in the regional news, and men who make a mannequin their wife end up in a cone of light for an instant. Their stories, however outlandish, seem quite ordinary, and it may happen to everyone at some point to intertwine them. What makes them unique is the gaze, disenchanted and poetic, of the observer and narrator. For it is precisely the gaze that needs maintenance, if one has the desire to catch, in the apparent mediocrity of everyday life, the inspirational light that makes each life unique.

Martano Francesca
Francesca Martano has graduated in Educational Science and works in a rehabilitation centre for addicts. She has travelled through Europe and South America and has attended many writing courses and workshops. In 2021 she won the literary prize “Il Cammello Racconta” with her book Blues, pane e salame; she won a special prize in the “Borgate dal vivo” event with the book Super Star. In 2023 she won the second place in the “88.88” competition with the short story Peperoncini Rossi.
