Breviario delle Indie

by Canzaniello, Emanuele
Breviario delle Indie

‘The first time we sailed across this whole world was on 20 September 1519’. The facts, the stories, the dreams, the madness, the blood and the wonders of the century of the first encounter between Europe and the Americas. A logbook, an atlas. Nothing is fiction and yet everything seems so, with the precision and clarity of dreams, in a cartography never seen and not visible. Travelling up the rivers of discovery,  Breviario delle Indie accepts everything that is travel and that we call real or history. And that here it returns to being dust and creation, spirals of different orders of time that intersect like ringed galaxies. Time of gods and blood, of gold and men, of risk and ritual, of the last nights on earth. Until it touches the traces, the dizziness, the signs left by a storm like none other ever to occur on earth, just like the first contact with other forms of life. Until it shifts the stages and routes of the great explorations towards the universal distances of evil and desire.
