Italian bookshops worldwide recommend… : Piola Libri’s selection (Brussels)

From 2025 onwards, newitalianbooks is asking Italian booksellers all over the world to highlight the titles most in demand among their readers. With this initiative, newitalianbooks wants to strengthen the role of Italian booksellers abroad in promoting Italian books worldwide.
This month our guest bookshop is Piolalibri in Brussels.
Since 2007, Piolalibri has (also but not only) been an independent bookshop based in Brussels, specialising in Italian fiction. Over the years, it has become a point of reference for those looking for Italian literature abroad, offering a carefully selected catalogue ranging from contemporary fiction to the great classics. The selection also includes essays on current affairs, history, philosophy, poetry, graphic novels and books for children and young adults, to satisfy readers of all ages and interests. A reference point for the purchase of Italian language manuals, it participates in fairs and markets and organises meetings and presentations to promote Italian culture in all its forms.
In 2022 it also opened Piola Piccola, a cultural and literary centre in Saint-Gilles: a place to collect and sell second-hand Italian books.
‘Italian bookshops worlwide recommend…’ is an initiative organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The following titles have been selected for newitalianbooks readers by Piolalibri in Brussels…
