Attraverso Palermo. Ediz. italiana e inglese

The second volume in the series “Great Cities, Great Photographers”, titled Attraverso Palermo, tells the story of the Sicilian city through the lens of renowned photographer Fabio Sgroi. Sgroi, who worked with the Palermo daily newspaper L’Ora in the 1980s, has captured the city’s evolution and cultural transformation over the past forty years. His images document pivotal moments in Palermo’s history, from the devastation of bombings and mafia conflicts to the vibrant youth culture and collective spirituality. In recent years, Palermo has experienced a cultural revival, embracing its rich artistic heritage. Sgroi’s archival photographs offer a window into the past, while a new series of images, created specifically for this volume, presents a contemporary view of the city. The book includes contributions from notable figures such as Nadia Terranova, Giuseppe Barbera, Claire Fontaine, Fabrizio Lentini, and Costanza Quatriglio. Their essays provide additional context and insights, enriching the visual narrative of Palermo as captured by Sgroi.
