Maria Montessori recognized the importance of music for the cognitive development of the child and for this reason she wanted all her schools to offer a thorough musical education based on the formation of the person.She identified in his pupil Anna Maccheroni, a talented musician and teacher, a colleague with a deep understanding of the Montessorian principles and with the necessary musical background. The result was an original approach to music, based on the awareness that children learn first of all through experience and their senses: ear, eye, voice, hand, body and soul are involved simultaneously, and in general all the child actively participates in the musical experience.
