Elettroni spaiati, erbe, fiori e il segreto della giovinezza
by Severini Febo
The author has conducted studies on radical polymerization and the degradation of many plastic materials in the natural environment. He presents, in a simple yet rigorous language, the characteristics of free radicals, with particular emphasis on their reactivity. In particular, the behavior of the biradical molecule of oxygen and its superoxide is explained. Processes of polymer material oxidation are studied, and reactions of superoxide ions and hydrogen peroxide in a cellular context are described. A chapter is dedicated to the permanent effects of ultraviolet radiation on the Earth’s surface and its inhabitants. The volume concludes with a chapter on natural antioxidants capable of mitigating the harmful effects of free radicals in living organisms.
