Gaslighting. La più subdola tecnica di manipolazione psicologica

The book analyses the various influence mechanisms existant and examines in depth those manipulation tactics that result in real forms of emotional abuse (ghosting, orbiting, benching, breadcrumbing, mobbing).Among these, gaslighting is one of the main forms of psychological manipulation, as it can destroy people’s sanity through its mystification techniques: the abused person is led to question his/her own perception of reality and to believe that what the manipulator says is always true.The victims progressively lose their personality in a process of dehumanization, activated by the abuser. The victims’ thoughts are manipulated and reprogrammed at an unconscius level by the gaslighter.The authors underline the dysfunctional parts of communication and the several strategies aimed at personality destruction, based on the “persuasiveness of speech” and on the use of specific lies.The work also focuses on the themes of personality destruction, cognitive dissonance with reference to infidelity and on the manipulation of consent, performed through campaigns of disinformation.
