Italia Arcobaleno

by Dall'Orto Giovanni, Basili Massimo
Italia Arcobaleno

History doesn’t speak only about datas and names, but also about real persons and lives, and places full of secrets and curiosities. The first Italian LGBT guide, touristical and historical, in which you can find the stories of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transsexual people: simple, ironical and rich of original information.

In this first volume on the North-Centre of Italy, the historian Giovanni Dall’Orto accompanies the reader through monuments, roads and museums, in the cities of Florence, Milan, Rome, Turin and Venice, reconstructing historical biographies and events from the documents of the period, with the help of hundreds images relevant for lgbt history.

Moreover, the illustrations by Massimo Basili recreate, freely and in a pop way, events and places that we don’t have any record of.

From the Royal Palace of Turin, passing by the Scala opera house in Milan, to S. Mark’s Square in Venice. And then again to the Giotto’s Campanile in Florence, and walking inside Villa Borghese in Rome. Every city has multiple itineraries, reasoned to be practicable in the space of few hours, and that can be flanked at the most classic sightseeings. Between scandals at court, trials and sentences, seculars secrets and political fights, Rainbow Italy tells… a whole other story.
